CSSA at HMS

The Chinese community is a research force with more than 1,000 Chinese working at HMS and its affiliated institutes. However, connection among Chinese fellows has been a concern in the Longwood medical area since no Chinese association existed at HMS. In an attempt to remedy the situation, a group of postdoctoral fellows proposed forming a Chinese association in 2007. As approved by the names committee in HMS, the association has been officially named as “Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association at Harvard Medical School” (CSSA at HMS). The membership of CSSA at HMS is free and open to all Chinese from both Mainland and Taiwan in Harvard Medical School and affiliated institutes, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard School (HSDM) of Public Health (HSPH) as well as to scholars of other nationalities who are interested in joining.

The mission of the association includes, but is not limited to:

To strengthen professional and personal communications among Chinese fellows, students and faculty members

To promote the cultural exchanges between Chinese and other internationals at HMS and affiliated institutes

To provide better career opportunities for Chinese fellows at HMS

To serve as a platform for academic exchanges and collaborations between HMS and universities and institutes in China

哈佛医学院的华人学者和学生数目众多，并已经成为哈佛医学院不可忽视的科研力量，但长期以来，由于没有自己的华人组织，医学院的华人一直缺乏应有的凝聚力。为此，数名博士后积极倡议成立华人社团，经哈佛医学院命名委员会批准，哈佛医学院中国专家学者联合会 (Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association at Harvard Medical School) 正式成立于2007年初。联合会会员资格向哈佛医学院和附属科研机构，哈佛口腔医学院，哈佛公共卫生学院的所有华人（包括来自大陆和台湾）以及对中国感兴趣的各国学者免费开放。联合会的主要宗旨如下：

• 增进哈佛医学院全体华人之间的接触和交流
• 促进哈佛医学院华人与其他国籍人士间的文化交流
• 为哈佛医学院华人学者和学生创建良好的职业生涯环境
• 为哈佛医学院与国内科研机构的学术交流与合作提供平台
